Potential needs a path.
Sportlinc Pathways connects young people with opportunities in Lynchburg’s regional workforce. Through assessment, career preparation, and access to internships, we help underserved youth discover where they can thrive while building the relationships, resources, and social capital needed to succeed.
Prepare. Discover. Apply. Experience.
The model is simple: help young people get ready, understand themselves, pursue the right opportunities, and learn through real experience.
Get workplace ready
Build workplace readiness through Sportlinc resources and, when appropriate, preparation offered by schools, youth organizations, or other community partners.
Understand yourself
Complete a professional assessment, receive an individualized report, and participate in a facilitated group interpretation to connect strengths and development areas to the world of work.
Pursue opportunity
Identify appropriate internships and get help understanding the opportunity and navigating the application process.
Learn through real work
If selected by an employer, gain real workplace experience, relationships, expectations, feedback, and a clearer next step.
What a young person receives.
Assessment + individual report
Personal results that improve self-understanding and help connect strengths and development areas to career possibilities.
Group interpretation
A trained practitioner helps the cohort understand and use the results. Limited individual follow-up may be available when appropriate and resources permit.
Career-readiness preparation
Participants receive or are connected to preparation for workplace expectations, résumé development, interviewing, professional communication, and internships.
Access to opportunity
Sportlinc helps young people identify appropriate internships and apply. Placement is not guaranteed; participants must meet employer requirements and earn each opportunity.
There is more than one way into the pathway.
Pathways works best when young people, youth-serving organizations, and employers each bring what they do well.

Organization PartnershipBuild a pathway into your industry
Help define success in important roles, sponsor youth, offer career exposure, or make internship opportunities available.
Employer PartnershipReal work. Real feedback. Real growth.
The employer becomes part of the learning experience through three simple checkpoints.
Define responsibilities, professional standards, and what success will look like.
Provide a structured progress evaluation and coaching conversation during the internship.
Provide feedback on performance, growth, strengths, development needs, and possible next steps.
Access is more than an introduction.
Pathways is designed to help young people build the information, relationships, resources, and social capital that often make opportunity easier to see and pursue.

Build a pathway. Grow a leader.
